Wednesday, June 26th, 1912.

Harold brought young Barnes to lunch. We talked about canon law in the C. of E., a subject which the Abp's letter in this morning's "Times" naturally suggested.

I celebrated the marriage of Mr Rudolph Dymoke White in S. Margaret's: & gave the newly married couple an address.

Violet Markham had tea with me.

Ella & I attended Mrs Lowther's reception on the Terrace, where flowers were being sold in aid of the Hospitals. I had some speech with Sir Charles Nicholson, Mr Pease, & John Burns.

We gave a dinner–party. The guests present were the following:

Appleton Lawrence & his wife

Jack Scott & his sister

Captn & Mrs Simpson

Ian Dennistoun & his wife

Captn & Mrs Marsh.
