4th Sunday after Easter, May 5th, 1912.

A pleasant morning after the rain. Westlake celebrated at 8 a.m. There were 15 cts.

There was a large congregation in St Margt's at Mattins, but very few members. I only recognized Sir R. Finlay, Sir J. Barran, Mr Ainsworth, & my Churchwarden. The Bp. of Ely sate in the Speaker's seat. I preached on the words "The wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God". Afterwards I celebrated the Holy Communion: there were 70 comts.

Col: Probie & his daughter, Henry Eadie & his wife, and Miss Smith were at lunch.

I went to the Abbey in the afternoon, & heard a very eloquent discourse from Boyd–Carpenter.

S. Margaret's was well filled in the evening. I preached from the words, 'Never man so spake'.
