Palm Sunday, March 31st, 1912.

I celebrated at 8 a.m. in St Margaret's. 25 communicants.

At Mattins there was a large congregation. The Speaker, Lord St Aldwyn, Sir Hy Graham, Captn Butler, Mrs Asquith, Frank Pember, & diverse others. Indeed I suspect the relative dislocation of the railways is 'holding up' the week–enders. I preached on the Holy Communion, taking as my text St Paul's words: "As often as ye eat this bread, & drink the cup, ye proclaim the Lord's Death till He come".

Alec Pleasance came to see me during the afternoon: & Wilfrid Hill.

At Evensong the church was crowded. I preached on 'The discipline of moral failure'. Violet Markham, Pearce & his sister, Harold & Elsie, & Gilbert were our guests at supper.
