The newspaper reports the death of the Bishop of Oxford. This is very unexpected & very regrettable.

Llewelyn Davies took his departure.

The post brought a letter from Colonel Trollope including a cheque for £2500, the balance of the Coronation Stand money.

This cheque I sent into The Bank forthwith.

We motored to Sudbury, and called at Mr Matthew Thompson's house, which is a delightful XVth century dwelling, & full of interesting antique furniture & china.

Later in the day, we motored to Clare, where we visited the fine Perpendicular Church. I photographed an old house which adjoined the churchyard.
