Dr Ballance motored us to his cottage in the country at Chalfont St Giles. In spite of a falling glass, & a threatening sky there was no serious trouble with the weather. Dr Tait, Dr Spencer, Dr Williams, & Dr Page were also of the party. We were motored back to Dean's yard about 6 p.m.
I dined as Dr Bovey's guest with the Canadians at their Dominion Dinner. Old Lord Strathcona presided. It was understood to be his last appearance. The Duke of Connaught was present, & a numerous company. The crowd at the reception, which followed the dinner, was frightful. Ella & I returned home about 11.30 p.m.
