Sexagesima, February 19th, 1911.
A tremendous hurricane & deluge inaugurated the day, which improved as it advanced. At 8 a.m. I celebrated in S. Margaret's. There were 27 comts.
There was a fair congregation at Mattins but the coughing was maddening! My sermon was a comfortless performance.
I baptized conditionally Mary Ethel Rogers, whom I am preparing for Confirmation.
On Monday, the 20th Feb. I went to Liverpool, & preached to the United Methodist Churches, on the occasion of their annual demonstration. In the evening I addressed what was rather absurdly described as a "young people's meeting". If they were young, there are many old heads on young shoulders in Liverpool. I stayed the night with Sir E. Russell, & on Tuesday, the 21st, returned to Westminster.
