There were but 9 cts at 11 a.m. At Mattins the congregation was large & included the Speaker. I had to interrupt my sermon by an appeal to the Coughers, who had become intolerable. There were no less than 135 comts.

At Evensong there [sic] another large congn & all very quiet, so that I preached without discomfort. The Prime Minister sate with the Churchwardens during the service, but went out before the Sermon!
