2nd Sunday in Advent, December 4th, 1910.

I went to the Abbey at 10 a.m. Cooke preached a mild short sermon, scholarly & rather dull. The Offertory for the Bible Society was the smallest on record for that object. Pearce preached in St Margt's, & came in to lunch. He has much gossip about the vacant Deanery, from which I gather at least this, that none of the existing canons are in the running.

I preached in the Abbey to a considerable congregation. An offertory for the Bible Society was taken at the door, and amounted to about £18.
