Winnipeg:– The weather is again very fine.

This city is making efforts at self–adornment. There are some trees of modest size, and the river gives some opportunity for landscape–gardening.

I spent most part of the forenoon in correcting the proofs of my Yale Lectures: then accompanied Ella & Louis into the town, where I called at the C.P.R., and bought my steamship ticket (£40).

In the afternoon were two visitors, Dr Jones, a connection of Ella, and a local clergyman, named Heathcote. I read some of the lectures to Aubrey, who was an appreciative listener.
