Wednesday, December 2nd, 1908.

I baptized Gladys Mabel Lowther, infant daughter of Sir Gerard Lowther, now British Ambassador at Constantinople. The Speaker's wife was one of the God–parents.

The annual dinner of the 'Past Overseers Society' was held at the Westminster Palace Hotel. I attended and proposed the 'City of Westminster', to which the new Mayor responded.

The Bishop of Chester sent me a 'Charge' delivered 'at his 6th visitation Nov: 1908' on 'Re–union, with special reference to the claims of the Church of Rome as the main obstacle to Christian Unity'.
