Monday, March 23rd 1908.

The Archbishop sent back the MS. with a list of observations: and I expended two hours in the endeavour to meet his Grace's wishes. Then I carried the amended article to the editor. Beeching & I walked the length of the Embankment & back, being deafened the while by the traffic which is unsufferable.

In the afternoon I went with Radcliffe to a second interview with Mr Lush anent the case of Mr Turner. He was most positive in dissuading any litigation.

On Wednesday evening (Mar: 25th ) Hamilton called to arrange a memorial service in S. Margaret's for the Duke of Devonshire. I went across to the Speaker, and at his suggestion fixed the hour at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Thursday & Friday were wasted in making arrangements, save that I preached in All Hallows, Lombard Street, on Thursday a sermon on "Ideals of Anglicanism".

On Saturday, the 28th March, the Memorial Service took place, & passed off without hitch. The Archbishop gave the Blessing, the Dean read the Lesson: I read the Prayers.
