I arrived in King's Cross at 7.20 a.m. after an easy and rapid journey from Edinburgh. After writing such letters as needed to be written I went to S. Margaret's & conducted a memorial Service for Mr Finch, 'the Father of the House'. Then, at noon, I read the Funeral Service for Mr Gough of the Colonial Office, whose death took place very unexpectedly last week.
Custard lunched with me: & together we went to the Church for the marriage of Mr McCulloch.
