Mr Arthur Watts (3. Fitzroy St., Fitzroy Sq. W.6.) came to see me after dinner, & we had a long conversation. He told me much of his manner of life as an artist; of his models: of his views & ideals, I was much interested.
Questions for the Christian Casuist:–
- Is it permissible for a Christian girl to adopt the profession of an artist's model?
- Is it permissible for a Christian Artist to employ female models for painting from the nude?
Mr Watts assured me that, to the best of his knowledge, no artist was a professed and practising Christian.
Mackerness said the same thing of his profession – the stage. The Arts it would seem, after a Christian aberration, are returning to their native paganism!
