I went to the Oxford House for the 21st anniversary. About 90 past and present members dined in the Excelsior Hall. The Bishops of London and Stepney, Bernard Wilson, Adderley, Wm Cecil, & Lawley were there. I proposed the toast of the House, in a speech of about 20 minutes length.

Kirshbaum was sent for to the American Embassy, and told that he must go to Chicago as one of the witnesses of Mr Marshall Field's will. This seems to be an absurd requirement; and its satisfaction will be immensely inconvenient. K. evidently likes the notion of going.
