3rd Sunday after Epiphany, January 22nd, 1905.

Cold and threatening fog. There were 17 communicants at 8 a.m. The organist failed to appear until the service was half over. I preached on "Sincerity in love", but wearily, & in an intolerable babel of coughing.

Mrs Murray from Murraythwaite came to lunch. Also Sherwood & his brother, & Harold, who afterwards accompanied me on my constitutional.

At Evensong there was a fair congregation, & much coughing. Waddell, the deputy organist came in to supper. He is desirous to be confirmed.

This being Accession Day, we had the National Anthem played at close of service both in the morning and in the evening.
