I went into the City, & preached at S. Stephen's Walbrook, the annual sermon of the Churchmen's Union. There was a fair congregation, presumably composed of members of the Union. After preaching, I lunched with old Dr White, the Rector of S. Mary, Aldermanbury. He shewed me his church built by Wren, a very fine work. Then I attended a meeting in the Church House of the said Union. Morrison was in the Chair: Lord Avebury, Sir M. Grant Duff, Sir Edward Russell, & Percy Gardner were the principal speakers. I spoke briefly.

After dinner I had 17 communicant boys together, talked to them about the Guild of Perseverance, & gave them supper.
