Monday, February 23rd, 1903.

This whole day has been wasted. There was a chapter meeting from 11 a.m., with an interval for lunch, till 4.30 p.m., then a short walk with Beeching, then a Confirmation Class, finally dinner with Thesiger.

My letter appeared in the Times, and drew one anonymous letter of orthodox abuse, and a characteristic letter of approval from Fletcher.
