I wrote more letters, bringing the number of acknowledged congratulations to 166. Then I went to Westminster & had an interview with my organist – Lemare. In the Vestry a note was handed me from the Churchwarden inclosing a letter rather violently worded from a parishioner of importance protesting against the existing type & time of the services.

Then I walked to Bourdon House, & lunched with Miss Leslie. There I met Baden–Powell, one of the clergy of S. Peter's Eaton Sq., & also the Vicar of S. Thomas' Regent Street.

On my way home I purchased the book on the Temperance Question, wh. Gore so earnestly commended.

Willie Spencer brought me his photograph.

Mrs Millson presented me with a paper–knife wonderfully carved.
