Friday, November 23rd, 1900

I lunched with Knox at the National Liberal Club, & afterwards met Tim Healy in the corridor. Then I called by appointment at the Foreign Office, & had a short interview with Lord Salisbury about the Hospital. He was most kind, thanked me for what I had done at Ilford, & expressed himself in very flattering terms about my appointment to Westminster. I pressed as far as I dared the claims of the Archdeacon to be appointed to the Hospital.
