Ravensworth Castle

Ravensworth Castle was an eighteenth-century house transformed by the architect John Nash in 1808 on the instruction of Sir Thomas Liddell, first baron Ravensworth (second creation). It became a girls' boarding school in the 1920s and apart from the two towers, was demolished in 1976, the same year that the Liddell family abandoned the estate. For most of the twentieth century, they lived at Eslington Park, Alnwick, part of the ancestral estate.
