St Anne's church, Bishop Auckland, is located in the market place, just outside Auckland Castle gateway. It was built in 1847 on the site of the medieval borough church, which probably served as a chapel of ease for the Castle and its servants, and provided a place of worship for the elderly and infirm in the vicinity who could not attend the parish church of St Andrew further away.
