Edward Westermarck
Edward Westermarck (1862-1939; ODNB), Finnish sociologist, anthropologist and philosopher of Swedish ancestry, who became closely associated with British intellectual life from the beginning of the twentieth century; professor of sociology, London School of Economics from 1907; rejected Christianity early in his life and conceived morality as rooted in emotion rather than objective truth.
