David Davies (1880-1944; ODNB), Welsh landowner, philanthropist and peace campaigner; MP (Lib), Montgomeryshire, 1906-29; active figure in the Court of the University of Wales; major contributor to the founding of the National Library of Wales, 1911; founder of the League of Nations Union and the first chair of International Relations in Britain at University College, Aberystwyth, 1919, both as part of a wider effort to promote world peace; Baron Davies of Llandinum, Montgomeryshire, 1928.
