Wyndham Deedes (1883-1956; ODNB), army officer and civil administrator in the middle east during and after the First World War, including chief secretary of Palestine administration under the British Mandate, 1920-23; kt, 1921; social worker in the East End of London from 1923; Zionist and close friend of Chaim Weizmann and his wife; committed Anglican, active in church bodies.
