Percy Ewart Warrington
Percy Warrington (1889-1961), Evangelical clergyman; founded a number of schools under the umbrella of the Church Trust Society, including Canford, Stowe, and Westonbirt; dismissed from his position as a governor of the schools during the early 1930s when their financial irregularities were exposed by the Depression, and subsequently mortgaged by the Legal and General Assurance Society; retained his living at Monckton Combe, near Bath; also played a major part in the founding of St Peter's Coll., Oxford, for Evangelical students through providing financial assistance to Christopher Chavasse in 1928.
