Katherine Mayo (1867-1940; ODNB), American author and critic of the policy of devolution to colonial territories after the First World War; author of Mother India (1927), written with unofficial support from the India Office, and emphasising sexual problems in Hindu culture, particularly child marriage, as central to India's problems.
