Caroline Bridgeman, neƩ Parker (1873-1961; ODNB), Conservative political activist and churchwoman; m. 1895 William Bridgeman, later a Unionist MP and minister, viscount 1929; prominent in women's Unionist bodies, and wartime agricultural committees; chair, Women's Unionist Organization, 1918-24, and first female chair, National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations, 1926-7; DBE 1924; member, house of laity, 1925-60, vice-chair, 1942-7; member, archbishops' commission on church and state, 1930-5; succeeded her husband as a BBC governor, 1935-9.
