Walter Moberley (1881-1974; WWW), educationalist and prominent liberal lay churchman; fellow, Merton Coll. Oxford, 1904-7, Lincoln Coll., 1906-21; professor of philosophy, Birmingham Univ., 1921-4, vice-chancellor, Univ. of Manchester, 1926-34; chairman, University Grants Committee, 1935-49; friend and ally of William Temple; author of two essays in Foundations.
