Geoffrey Studdert Kennedy (1883-1929; ODNB), army chaplain, noted for his sacramental teachings and popularity with the troops, nicknamed 'Woodbine Willie'; prolific religious poet and author; MC,1917; 'messenger' for the Industrial Christian Fellowship, 1922, following the amalgamation of the Christian Social Union and the Navvy Mission Society in 1920.
