Leopold James Maxse

Leopold Maxse (1864-1932; ODNB), owner from 1893 and editor (to 1929) of The National Review, which he made into a leading journal of radical Unionism and tariff reform; imperialist, navalist, Francophile, anti-German, exposer of Liberal political 'corruption', and after 1919 a critic of the League of Nations.
