Peter Smart (1568/9-c.1652; ODNB), prebendary of Durham, 1606-30; fierce critic of Arminian practices in the cathedral, and of John Cosin in particular, in pamphlets and legal actions; provoking counter-actions that led to his imprisonment and deprivation, 1630; witness in trials of Cosin and William Laud in early 1640s.
