Ronald Barnes (1884-1963; WWW); barr., editorial staff, The Times.1910-15; army officer during First World War; 3rd baron Gorell, 1917, after elder brother was killed in action; deputy director for education, war office, 1918-20; promoted measures of divorce law reform recommended by the royal commission on divorce 1909-13, chaired by his father; as a Liberal peer, a junior minister 1921-22; joined the Labour party 1925; a novelist and poet, and leading figure in various educational and literary charities.
