Reginald Dyer (1864-1927; ODNB), Lt-Col.; commander of the Jullundur brigade, responsible in April 1919 for the 'Amritsar massacre', the shooting, killing and wounding of large numbers of Indian nationalist protesters, an issue which deeply divided British as well as Indian opinion.
