James Wilde

James Wilde, Baron Penzance (1816-99; ODNB), high court judge, 1860-72; dean of arches and judge under the terms of the Public Worship Regulation Act, 1874-98, responsible for trying cases against clergymen charged with ritualism, and so for anglo-catholics an epitome of unacceptable Erastianism.
