Archibald Scott (1837-1909; ODNB), Church of Scotland minister, St George's, Edinburgh, 1880-1909; convenor and member of numerous committees of the general assembly of the Church of Scotland, 1888-1909, becoming its unofficial 'leader', and serving as moderator, 1896; promoted union with the United Free Church in 1907.
