A Reflection

On reading in 'The Times' that Lord Passfield has issued an order for the protection of the Ourang Outan.

For loyal workers foully used at Hull

Miss Bondfield's sympathy at best is dull:

To Scottish fishermen bereft of boats

Johnston is cold, and asks about their votes –

"Scratch you my back, if you my ear would win:

"A vote for Labour makes the whole world Kin."

No wonder that with interest we scan

Lord Passfield's kindness for the Ourang Outan.

I copied these very effective lines from the Times of today. They carry a bitter & searching question.

A most beautiful day, with a bite in the air. I wrote to Downing asking his advice as to approaching the Commissioners again in the interest of Durham Castle.

Cecil Ferens came to see me about the squalid business at Thornley, and I charged him to write to Humphreys on my behalf. I can do nothing until the Sheriff issues his writ.
