A beautiful spring day, mild and bright. Three clergymen came to lunch – Mr Slater, the secretary of "Toc H." who desired a Preacher's licence: Mr Cutts of the Seamen's Mission, who wanted the deed of sale of the vacated mission premises to be signed: & Wynne–Willson, who wished to discuss my project of transferring Jimmie from Belmont to Bishopwearmouth. After they had gone, I walked in the Park, and then motored with Lionel to Easington where I confirmed 93 persons in the beautiful parish church. The clergy present were:
West, Rector of Easington Ordd 1891
Widdas, Rector of Hawthorn. Ordd 1906
Cass, Vicar of Horden. Ordd 1918
Rose, Vicar of Greatham. Ordd 1912.
Herbert, Minister of Easington Colliery. Ordd 1921
West, Cass, and Rose have no degrees.
Beyond a subscription of £5 from Col Briggs, who had met me when stationed at Seaham Harbour in 1917, nothing came in for the castle as a result of my Appeal through the B.B.C. Something may have been sent in to the Treasurer at the Bank, but I doubt it.
