Monday, May 5th, 1924.
Rather to my surprise there was no report of the Rede Lecture either in the Times or in the Daily Telegraph. The Morning Post and the Yorkshire Post reported it at fair length.
I left Cambridge by the 9.5 a.m. & went to London where I called on Downing at the Ecclesiastical Commission with reference to the installation of electric light in Auckland Castle. I returned to the Castle by the 1.15 p.m. express, & was met at Darlington by William.
Cruikshank dined and stayed the night.
