Wednesday, April 30th, 1924.

After prayers I confirmed in the Chapel, Mr Coombs, the Headmaster of the Northeastern Counties School. Then I wrote many letters, and had interviews with Lomax of Washington, Dolphin of Edmundbyers, & Wilkinson of Witton–le–Wear. Accompanied by Clayton I motored to Sunderland, & there instituted Burrows to the Vicarage of Venerable Bede, in succession to Bishop Aglionby, and then went on to South Shields, where I instituted McGill to the Vicarage of St John, Sunderland, in succession to Jackson. We got back to the Castle about 10 p.m.
