Tuesday, March 11th, 1924.

A most disconcerting letter from Palgrave ruined my morning's work. I motored to Sunderland, and had interviews with him and his rector. On the way I had tea with Knight, and discussed with him the fate of divers clergy & ordination candidates. I got back from Sunderland in time to confirm 170 candidates in Christ Church, Gateshead. Then we returned to Auckland.
