Wednesday, February 6th, 1924.

I moved my resolution, which was formally seconded by the Bishop of Bradford, who, however, did not vote for it. The Bishop of Ripon opposed in a speech which was very affective, but not, I think, very fair: and the Archbishop summed up triumphantly against me. So I was left in a minority of one, & covered in ignominy! Nevertheless, I think that I was mainly right.
