William & I left Rode Hall at 10 a.m., and motored to Lake End, on Coniston Lake, where we arrived at 5.30 p.m., having travelled 143 miles. We came through Warrington, Wigan, Preston, Lancaster, Kendal, & Greenock. The evening was brilliant, & we exulted in the beauty of the place – lake & mountain wonderfully blended.
