William appeared with the car outside the hotel and Newcastle Station about 9 a.m., and carried me to Auckland, where I had a bath, & went through the letters with Clayton. Then we motored to Durham, where I instituted three curates, and lunched with Wilson. At 2.30 p.m. I presided over the Finance Board, where on the motion of Mr Priestman, seconded by another layman, it was resolved to contribute not more than 10 percent of our total income to the central fund. This will mean a considerable reduction of the amount sent to the Fund.
