I took the Pembers to see Escomb. We called at the Vicarage to ask for the key, and found Mr Hodgson at home. He introduced to me his eldest son, Kingsley, a lad of 16 now at Leatherhead. Then he went with us to the church, and expounded its features of interest. We returned to the castle for lunch. In the afternoon we (Frank, Clayton, Ernest & I.) walked for 1 1/2 hours in a violent wind against which it was not easy to maintain one's position. I wrote to Archbishop Soderblom, and Principal Richmond.

Dail Eireann voted for acceptance of the "Treaty" by a majority of 7 votes. Will this narrow division justify much hope that the new project will succeed?

Lucie Soderblom left us in order to visit Mrs Cooper, the wife of the Scottish Professor, in Glasgow.
