Friday, September 10th, 1920.

This was a busy day. We left Botton Hall at 10.00 a.m. & motored to Auckland Castle. The motor managed the really formidable hills without difficulty, & brought us in to time for lunch. I did business with Maish, & then joined Ella & Pattison (who attended from Durham) in the tiresome task of going through the list of the furniture. Then we went to Benwell Tower, where we stayed the night with the Bishop of Newcastle, and Mrs Wilde. Ralph, Kitty, & Crawford were here, and also the Chaplain of the Fleet.
