I wasted the day in interviews & letter–writing. Moore had the assurance to come & see me. I was not too civil! Mr Page, the Vicar's churchwarden from Leominster, had a long talk with me about the state of affairs in that parish. He is quite positive that nobody will testify against the Vicar, & equally positive that nobody respects him. There was a thunderstorm at dinner–time. I read Curzon's speech aloud. It is too abbreviated in the "Times" to enable a judgement of its quality.
