A sharp frost last night, followed by a brilliantly fine day. I did not go out on the doctor's advice. Mr Ralph Edwards, a journalist, "interviewed" me, and stayed to lunch. Also Mr Davies, who bored me to death by his talk about inspecting schools. Finally Mr Lloyd, the Master of the endowed school at Staunton–on–Wye, who wants to be ordained. He is rather aggressively Welsh, & would hardly be understood by an English congregation.
