I went to the Temple, and preached the sermon on ecclesiastical reform which I had prepared with so much thought. There was a considerable congregation, and I hope my words will carry far. Lord Parmoor was among my auditors. I celebrated the Holy Communion. Ella joined me after service, & we both dined at the Inner Temple. Simon was there with his wife. After lunch we called on Miss Mundella, & had tea. Then, as my arm was painful, we went to Dr Troutbeck, who patched me up. I dined at the Club, & went early to the Hotel, where Ella came, & tended my arm.
