1449th day

I stayed in bed. The doctor called after breakfast. His report confirmed his overnight judgement.

The "Times" reports the death of the ex–Tsar – shot by the Bolshevists. From the Throne to the Grave is a short step for monarchs. I wrote to Asquith thanking him for his Lecture; and to Lady Londonderry, declining her invitation to lunch; and to Major, explaining my inability to attend the Churchmen's Union Meeting in Cambridge next month. Also, I revised the long letter to Shakespeare, which I wrote yesterday, & directed Norcock to make a copy: but whether I shall send it is still uncertain.
