1415th day

I spent much of the day in going through the returns from the clergy containing their offers of military service. There will not be many from my diocese. Also, I interviewed a candidate for Ordination – S. John Trevor, a schoolmaster from Bridgnorth. After dinner I finished reading "The Village Labourer", and then wrote to Ella. The weather has become chilly & damp, which is unpleasant but rain is urgently wanted for the crops.
